INFO FROM JAN PETER BLICKENSTAFF
EMAIL: JBLICKEN[ at ]IDOC.STATE.ID.US

I was an the USS Canon PG-90 and we were making river patrols up river to Nam Cam and Sea Float in 1970-71. We were in two fire fights in the river. I have to look up the dates.
The river was the Cua Bo De, a tidal river entered from the east coast of the southern point of VN. The maps showed the river exiting to the west coast but was described as too shallow for our ship.
Reportedly Nam Cam was destroyed in the TET offensive and never rebuilt with bricks and mortar. We could see the ruined brick walls but the town was native huts and wood buildings. There was a Triangular fort built for the local forces. SVN marines were the major defensive force while we were there.

We supplied gunfire support with our 3 inch gun.

Yours are the first pictures and 2nd reference to SeaFloat I have found in all my reading and searching. Adm. Zumwalt and son reference SeaFloat in their book but no pictures. Thanks!.

The Unit Memorial Monument is on the Coronado Naval Amphibious Base.
The Unit Memorial Monument will memorialize all the Naval personnel
who died or are missing in Vietnam. The names on the monument are organized by
unit complete with Unit insignia. Includes support and auxillary units.

Funds are needed to complete the Unit Memorial Monument and
restore the Command Control Boat, Swift Boat and PBR displayed there.
Your donations to this effort would be appreciated.

The Last known Command Control Boat (CCB-18) has arrived in San Diego
and is displayed at the Vietnam Navy Unit Memorial Monument Site
on the Coronado Naval Amphibious Base.
This was called by some a monitor boat.
